Richard Hallock, "Captain"
(1724 - 1821)



Was a hero of the Revolutionary War. His family, who were English, and members of the Society of Friends, settled in Connecticut at an early period. In his youth he was a sailor on sea vessels, after which he owned a whaler and was Captain of the same for many years.

Richard and Sarah moved from Stony Brook to Hallock Mills, Yorktown, N.Y., in 1784. He purchased of his brother Jesse, half interest in the mills and lived there until his death.
